Psalm 126

Psalm 126: 5-6

Those who sow in tears
Shall reap in joy.

He who continually goes forth weeping,
Bearing seed for sowing,
Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing,
Bringing his sheaves with him.(NKJV)

Isn't this such a perfect picture of parenthood?

Sow in tears.
Tears of joy.
Tears of frustration.
Tears of exhaustion and weariness.
Tears of confusion.
Tears of anger.

But we continually go forth.
Kissing the bruised knees and praying for broken hearts.
Praying for breakthrough.
Wiping the hands, correcting the words and guarding the doors, ever vigilant.

Bearing seed for sowing.
Reminding.
Sharing His Word. His Grace, not just His Law.
Telling how God's way will always be the best way, even when it's the hard way.

Trusting that we will come again with rejoicing, bringing our sheaves - our children - with us
Trusting that if we do not give up, we will reap a harvest of blessing.
Trusting that God gave us these children for a reason and He loves them even more than we do.

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28 NASB
