{Review & Giveaway} Well Planned Day College Planner

I'm not a college student.  Shocking, I know. But the lovely folks at Home Educating Family - the publishers of Well Planned Day planners -  asked me to take a look at their college planner and I'm so glad that I did!
I started college in 1996. Seems like an eternity ago, but I can still remember it like it was yesterday. Anyone know what I'm talking about? How does that work? I don't know. But when I was in college - like, back before the internet was available at every fast food place for free - organization was still a big deal.  Keeping track of classes, homework, tests, jobs, meetings for extracurricular activities... it's a lot! I wish I had a WPD planner way back then. I might have remembered to go to my 8am English class.

The layout is generally similar to the Well Planned Day homeschool edition as well as the student planner.  There is a year at a glance and a page for writing out your personal goals.

There are also some amazing articles and checklists. Honestly, I was reading through these thinking 'that is so smart! I wish I knew that when I went away to college!' This is great, practical stuff that any young person needs. Not that you moms and dads didn't do a great job! But this planner is all about promoting smart independent living. That is the thing I love the most about it.

Really, the tips and reminders are just excellent for any young person.

Information on laundry, stocking your pantry, cleaning and car maintenance and health tips fill two pages.  This is the kind of stuff you want to think your child will know before they leave home but assume they'll forget once and while. There is also a loaded two page "college checklist" with everything from clothing to an air purifier to  dishes and a bedspread.

There are two pages per semester for schedule, coursework, activities and meetings.

And of course, the tabs for easily locating the month you need.

Each month is on a two page spread, with a space for notes.

There is also a monthly budget page, with a very thorough breakdown of what funds are coming in and going out.

Each week is also on a two page spread with large spaces for assignments and keeping track of when they're due, as well as what grade the student received.

At the bottom of each month page, there are great life tips. This one caught my eye because it's so true and beautiful. I love this message for young people - life your live now, start the habits you want to see in yourself as an adult now. Such great advice.
