{review} Zondervan Sequin Bible

I received a copy of the Sequin Bible as a part of the Zondervan Z Blog Squad in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and a good review is not guaranteed.

The NIV Sequin Bible by Zondervan is a pretty edition to any young lady's library. It is available here for $29.99. Here is a bit about it from the Zondervan site:

This fun and attractive Sequin Bible includes the complete text of the bestselling New International Version (NIV) with a cover design that is full of sparkle and shine. Girls can express their style wherever they go!

It comes nicely packaged in a box, making it easy for wrapping or storing away. The cover is beautiful. The blue paisley pattern is pretty, but not cheesy or babyish. There is a slight glittery texture to the cover, which would probably wear off eventually. The sequin flower seems to be attached quite well.

The Bible is slim, which is very nice for carrying but makes the words inside small. There is a Table of Contents along with a Weights and Measures chart at the end of the Bible. There are no additional features, like a concordance or an index. If you're just looking for a simple Bible, this would be it.

While this Bible is very pretty (and really, I love the cover!), I think it's really lacking in comparison to other Bibles marketed to young ladies. If their goal is to have a lightweight Bible, then even a simple topical index would be a great addition for a young lady interested in learning more about God's Word. Also, this Bible is only available in the NIV. Our church uses the New King James translation and it would be easy for a young person to get a bit lost, listening to one translation and reading another.

With a few simple additions, this would be a great Bible for a young lady. Until then, even the pretty cover isn't enough to make me love it.
